We Are People, We Have Dreams

The skinny hipster barista serving you your soy latte has dreams.

The plump and friendly taxi driver taking you from your home to the airport where you jet off to another temporary home has dreams.

The trendy young teenager walking your dog every Monday, Wednesday, Friday has dreams.

The elderly greeter at Walmart whom you never fail to smile to when she smiles at you has dreams.

The beautiful, imperfect person looking back at you in the mirror has dreams.

We are people.

And we have dreams.

We also have fears to conquer, barriers to leap over, battles to fight, trials to endure.

Again, we are people.

And we have dreams.

And we can dream to conquer our fears, dream to leap over our barriers, dream to fight those battles and come out victorious, dream to not only endure the trials, but triumph over them.

My people, will you continue dreaming?

[wake up.] my gentle shake on your shoulder nudges you awake. You look up with sleepy eyes. I smile with my heart.

Let’s make those dreams come true together.
